Cheesy Bread


This recipe is adapted from The Changeable Table’s Bloomin’ Onion Bread.

This bread is great for communal TV watching, like for the Superbowl or a Twilight movie marathon. I love to pick off the warm and soft and buttery top bits and then eat the crusty bottom.

Flexible, but probably 6-8 people

1 unsliced loaf of bread (preferably French or sourdough)
Cheese (we used mozzarella, but other varieties work too)
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup finely diced green onion (or diced and browned onions)
Seasoning (we used Italian) and herbs (we used fresh basil)


Preheat the oven to 350 degress F. Cut the bread lengthwise and widthwise without cutting through the bottom crust.  Place on a foil-lined baking sheet.


Insert cheese between cuts.  Combine butter, onion, and seasoning.  Drizzle over bread.


Wrap in foil; place on a baking sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes.


Unwrap.  Bake 10 more minutes, or until cheese is melted.
